How to Use the Snakes & Ladders Game

  1. Print the Game Board: Print the Snakes & Ladders game board provided in the PDF. For added durability, use cardstock or laminate the board.
  2. Prepare Game Pieces:
    • Use coins, buttons, or small figurines as player markers.
    • If a dice template is included, print and assemble it. Alternatively, use a standard dice.
  3. Set Up the Board: Place the game board on a flat surface. Position the player markers on the starting square labeled “1.”
  4. Decide Player Order: Each player rolls the dice, and the one with the highest roll goes first. Play proceeds in a clockwise direction.
  5. Roll the Dice and Move: On their turn, a player rolls the dice and moves their marker forward by the number shown on the dice. Follow the numbered sequence on the board.
  6. Climb Ladders and Avoid Snakes:
    • If a player lands at the base of a ladder, they climb to the square at the top of the ladder.
    • If a player lands on a snake’s head, they slide down to the square at the snake’s tail.
  7. Win the Game: The first player to reach square 100 exactly wins. If a player rolls a number that exceeds 100, their turn is skipped.
  8. Optional Challenges: Add twists like requiring an exact roll to land on 100, or introducing fun penalties or bonuses for specific squares.

This fun-filled game is perfect for building number skills, enhancing strategic thinking, and fostering friendly competition among players of all ages! Ideal for classrooms, family game nights, or playdates.

My Favorite Printable Supplies

Here are some of my top go-to supplies for creating printable games and activities:

  • Printer: A high-quality printer is essential for the best results. If you’re in the market for one, I recommend the Canon Pixma MG3620 for its reliable performance.
  • White Cardstock: For most projects, I suggest using cardstock. It’s much sturdier than regular printer paper and often gives you a crisper, more professional print.
  • Crayons: A must-have for any crafting household! Crayola crayons are always the best choice for vibrant colors and smooth application.
  • Kid-Friendly Safety Scissors: Ideal for little ones learning to cut. These scissors are designed to cut paper, not fingers or hair, making them perfect for young crafters!
  • Glue Sticks: I love using disappearing purple glue sticks. They’re easy to apply and dry clear. I always stock up in bulk because we go through them quickly!
  • Lamination Machine: Laminating your printables helps them last longer, especially for reusable games. If you’re laminating, don’t forget to grab some dry-erase markers for added flexibility.
  • Dry Erase Pockets: A great alternative to laminating, dry erase pockets make it easy to reuse games and activities without the need for a laminator.
